For the first time, researchers have used the individual whistles (calls) of dolphins to estimate the number of specimens. The technique was used with the Common Bottlemose dolphins of Namibia and is currently be worked on to be used with other species.

Once again, a massive and mysterious crater has appeared in Siberia. It is the ninth discovered since 2013. A leading theory at the moment is a that the crater is "linked to an explosive buildup of methane gas", possibly due to the region's warming temperatures. Researchers are still investigating to understand the phenomenon better.

OU plans on using it's grant on such things as; protection of sea turtles, the development of "trustworthy" AI, and increasing access to AI and promoting diversity in STEM.

Frank Day, of Pew Charitable Trusts, takes a look at a recent case studies show a reform to WTO's fishing subsidies. The studies support ending payments that can be deemed "harmful", such as funding that encourages overfishing, while maintaining subsidies for artisanal fishers when needed, such as when a local fisher has to "survive a lean season".
